Gifted by William Kilander, President of the Swedish Cigar Federation.
Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens cigar lounge.
Information: Partagás Maduro No. 1, offers the smoker all the flavour and intensity of Partagás, with a very special wrapper , selected from the best leaves harvested from the top levels of the “ Shade Grown ” tobacco plant and which has developed, after an additional period of fermentation, a texture and intense color that are the ideal complements to the full flavour blend of Maduro No. 1. Later this year we will see Maduro No.2 and No. 3 released. Tobacco from Vuelta Abajo, Cuba.
Size: 5.11×52, Robusto
Wrapper: Dark milk chocolate, oily and smooth feel with tiny veins.
Construction: Firm even feel all over when lightly squeezed.
Cold draw: Cedarwood, cacao and dried fruits.
1st third: Starts of with a smooth bready note, cacao powder, bark and a sweet earthy finish.
2nd third: Flavour wise the same but with some extra spice.
Burn: Burns steady and slowly with a firm white and stable ash.
Smoke: Light smoke with a medium heat feel on the tongue and a medium light draw.
3rd third: It returns to the same flavour profile as the first part but now with a twist, imagine that the bread is now toasted and with smooth butter on it. Just yummy.
Duration: 21:14-22:01, 45 min
Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile.
Result: In my book this is an 90 point cigar.
