Another day and another cigar - this time walking through Hyde Park in London with my kids and the dog - So the perfect time to try the H Upmann Regalia for the first time. I must admit the 5 pack, beautifully adorned tin case, was what draw me to buying this cigar in the first place. Yes a little vain… Luckily, that purely visual decision paid off, even though the cigar that was quite firm with a tight draw. The wrapper was attractive and quite dark and a little waxy. I do like the 42 ring gauge along with the reasonable price for this cigar. Nice soft flavours that I think will only intensify with a little age. A good morning cigar if you have the time. I might get a box and put it aside!

This was my second cigar so I found it abit more spicey but burnt well and draw was fantastic. Another thing is that it’s small but powerful good value for money I’d say.

Size: 5.1×42, Petit Corona.

Wrapper: Nutty, silky smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Light wood.

1st third: Starts with a salted almond, cedarwood and light pepper spice.

2nd third: Well balanced and pretty much the same.

Burn: Burns sharp with a firm and stable gray ash.

Smoke: Medium voluminous smoke with a heat feel on the tongue and a medium light draw.

3rd third: Gets a little spicier towards the end, but still keeping the same flavour profile.

Duration: 21:55-22:45, 50 min.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile. Nothing to impressive, but well balanced from start to finish.

Result: In my book this is an 88 point cigar.

This is a mighty cigar indeed - especially given its size. I was prejudiced against it to be honest - it looked too much like those ‘panetellas’ of my youth. But wow - what flavour and what smoke output. If you are travelling anywhere in the world as I currently am, I would strongly urge you to consider this excellent cigar. The tin is cool too!
