With this H.UPMANN Magnum 54 we have experienced a tasting of extremes, with some loving it and others criticising it, leaving its score in a kind of 'no man's land'. With woody, bitter and slightly sweet notes, the best thing to do is to try this cigar and join one of the two camps. Will it be one of your favourite cigars or will you pass it by in the humidor?

The cigar is very complex. In the first third, it has a roasted peanut note with a sweet undertone. The middle section transitions to notes of cinnamon, raisins, and orange peel, with floral hints on the retrohale. In the final third, the intensity increases with a toasted bread and cinnamon flavor becoming more prominent, accompanied by a persistent floral and orange peel taste. The peanut and nutty flavors return, and there is a lingering licorice aftertaste.

The burning is great and the draw is consistently good from start to finish

This is considered a new Vitola by H.upman the Cigar introduced in 2016 I think
a beautiful chocolate wrap with a great aroma that has a full potential full body
if you get a chance to get an aged ones you will love it

Big flavour, relatively small package. This isn't the smallest vitola by any means but it is packed with flavor. Coincidently, this is also my first in the cuban H. Upmann line. Immediately off the first draw I was hit with floral notes. I paired this smoke with a rum and pepsi and instantly regretted I didn't have with a coffee or espresso. That in no means took away from this stick. The floral notes were prevalent throughout the smoke. Construction was fantastic and never had to touch it up. The ash on this was basically white and held strong. This was about a 45 min smoke in all. I can be a chimney sometimes especially with the flavors in this one. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through 'Cigars' by Nick Foulkes along smoking this cigar. I had a pleasant afternoon smoke and looking forward to my next Magnum 54. My stick is from a box of 10 from 2020. I am sure this cigar will only get better with age.

I smoked my first one of these last night by recommendation from the girl working in my local cigar shop, I wasn’t disappointed and was blown away by the intense, almost salty taste, there was a perfect draw from the get go, I actually let the final third go out as to savour the beautiful flavour for later.
Overall very impressed and will most certainly be buying more, im saving for a liebherr cabinet humidor so I won’t be smoking to many, but as Christmas is coming I’m sure there will be the odd one smoked here and there, I’m almost certain that I’ll have a box of these in my humidor at some point early next year, this is a testament to the one Magnum 54 I’ve smoked, it’s left an amazing impression.

This is a delightful fatter version of a Robusto and for Upmann a cigar unusually vested in rich dark flavours with the high notes you still expect from this brand. Bags of smoke are produced and whilst the flavours don’t change greatly through the cigar - you get an excellent 45 minute chocolate, spice and dry tones which make for a very satisfying experience. Upmann himself would have smoked this cigar whilst dreaming of leaving his bank and becoming a cigar maker. He made the right decision and one I am sure many of us consider as the markets Gyrate around us. The only certainty in life is an Upmann 54 and let’s hold tight to this consistent stubby little friend!
