- Box date Mar 22
- Paired with black coffee and Toblerone
- Lit with blue flame lighter
- Smoking time approx 45 minutes
- Good draw, not tight nor too open
- Firm springy and well constructed
- Even burn, been resting in my humidor (17C and 69%) for 2years
Pre-draw
- Sweetness, tobacco, slight hint of honey
1/3
- Initially wood combined with sweetness on the aftertaste
- Moderate smoke output
- Little creaminess
- Mild taste of tobacco and fudge
- Closing in on the first part a slight strength increase (leather/burnt woods/pepper)
2/3
- Continuing like above, mild on the palette, mostly tobacco/smoked wood
- Tiny hint or cream on the after taste when really concentrating
- Tiny hint of salt on the lips
- Smoke output picks up a little, white
- Slight nutty taste
3/3
- Minor pick up in intensity/strength but nothing remarkable
- A slightly more little prominent appearance of a wood note
- Almond and marzipan on the aftertaste
Conclusions
- I’ve smoked a handful of Epi 2’s over the years, I find them a little too bland/boring with not much happening through out.
- As usually difficult to pick up on any prominent tasting notes, mostly mild hints
- construction and burn was very good
- As this cigar is not my first choice, the cabinet surely will last quite some years. Will be interesting to see if any noticeable changes will occur as the remaining sticks ages over the years
As most of the cigar smokers, this is was my begging
Imagine that you have nice elegant sweeter, you can wear it every day any time and fit any attire. This is the Epicure No2, never go wrong with it, you can pair it with any drink, smoke it any time and you always will enjoy it, next time try to pair it with KitKat (chocolate), you will experience the Coconut.
For those amateur enthusiasts like myself - I got pulled into this recommendation. After sampling a few with my quite unrefined palate these are the conclusions I’ve drawn. Taste low to minimal, construction (meh), enjoyment and overall thoughts… it’s Everton not liverpool fc. Premier league but won’t win any trophies..
The Hoyo Epicure no.2 honors its name. A cigar for the Bon Vivant smoker who enjoys to live life of the good taste of things in the luxury world.
A mild cigar, but don't be fooled by that. The flavors of chocolate, walnuts, coffee and grass are tremendous.
I always keep this beauty on my humidor for a good smoke by the pool or even a sunny morning in the middle of a week.
Was looking forward to this one, unfortunately a great looking stick that smelt great, tasted fine, drew ok but was let down by troubled burn.

/Cigar Reviewer André
Well here we are with the world’s early stage favourite cigar. Terence Conrad smoked them and if you go to a high class cigar emporia as an eighteen year old beginner smoker this is what they would suggest you start with. This vitola is the equivalent of stabilisers on your smoking journey.
BUT - this implies that your first cigar should be your last and that you should progress from this cigar, say goodbye to it, onto a RA Gigantes and never look back. Farewell to your mother’s milk and evolve onto solid food. Critics call it the Ford Mondeo of Cigars; bland, ubiquitous and tasteless.
This is nonsense. This cigar is frankly delicious. With a fine cup of coffee or an afternoon sun, the Epicure No 2 is a delicious smoke and one which deserve significant respect. It’s has high notes and hay flavours with an added touch of sweetness which go perfectly with a cup of tea ( yes or coffee) and the size allows it to be enjoyed any place, anytime as the commercial suggests.
I keep a 50 cabinet in my humidor at all times and frankly all times are perfect for this delightful and tasty friend who, whilst not conjuring up images of your mother’s breast, should at least form part of your physiognomy from your first draw as a beginner to your last gasp as a final cigar, when you enter that great Ellie Blue in the heavens.
