Another day and another cigar this time the #punch 48 a medium strength 48 ring gauge 5 and a half inch Hermosos No. 3 vitola. Produced for La Casa del Habano and Habanos specialists and quite hard to find especially in London. I managed to buy a box from @tomtomcigars and the single I am smoking today I got from the La Casa del Habano in Antwerp. I was expecting a quite peppery cigar however it ended up being incredibly smooth, creamy and woody. Even the final third was smooth though a little more intense. I am so glad I bought the box as this could be my new favourite hour length cigar of choice. A great start to 2024 🙌🎉

This is one of my favourite cigars, the flavours seem to me quintessentially Cuban. Nutty and coffee-like, with a dry smoke that coats the inside of the mouth. Nice draw with a good smoke output. Paired well with a Bundaberg ginger beer on a sunny afternoon.

265. Punch 48 LCDH/HS

2019-03-24/ ANDREDIAS95

Store bought at Mellgrens Fine Tobacco.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens cigar lounge.

Information: Tobacco from Cuba.

Size: 5.5×48, Grand Corona.

Wrapper: Milk chocolate, smooth and oily but with slightly protruding veins.

Construction: Spongy feel when lightly squeezed. It’s very odd to find this in a Cuban.

Cold draw: Strong taste of cedarwood.

1st third: Starts of with a nutty coffee note and cedarwood background.

2nd third: Keeps it’s previous flavours but dialed down a notch.

Burn: Burns fairly sharp, with a stable and firm white ash.

Smoke: Voluminous white smoke with a cool feeling on the tongue and a light draw.

3rd third: Keeps pretty much the same all the way, a little bit sharper towards the end, but nothing uncomfortable.

Duration: 17:50-19:05, 1h 15min.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile.

Result: In my book this is an 89 point cigar.

Enjoyed the Punch 48 paired with a Belgian beer. Good construction, perfect draw. Medium bodied for me, with it’s ring gauge of 48 nice and comfortable in the hand. Perfect as a pre-dinner cigar.

I agree. I find Punch often a bit dull but this one, bought in duty free was a great vitola and very tasty.
