Another day and another cigar this time the Punch Preferidos a 2018 regional edition for the 5th Avenida (
distributor for Germany, Austria and Poland) this review is coming from the little village in the Cotswolds called Lower Slaughter where I am sitting in the garden with the sun out in the full glory of Spring in the English countryside - Perfect!
This regional edition is a Robusto format coming in at a 55 ring gauge by 5 1/8 inches representing the widest ring gauge produced for the Punch brand. It’s certainly on the a little too thick side for me. This edition came in boxes of 10 with 10,000 boxes available. The cigar starts with a really creamy and soft taste with a beautiful aroma. The draw is perfect and the burn, though a little lop sided to begin with, evens up midway and then burns very even for the remainder. The middle third of the cigar starts to product some subtle white pepper and woody flavours however they are very light on the palate and certainly wouldn’t offend those aficionados who prefer light cigars. The retro hale has a little kick however remains a pleasant experience. The middle third stays very consistent to the first third though the cigar develops some lovely thick smoke and the aroma really ramps up. I was expecting the intensity to ramp for the final third though it never really rises to the occasion. Now I can understand that could disappoint many however as I am more often than not a morning smoker I’m not that disappointed - and given my location and the stunning setting I am more than happy with the cigar 🙌 Would I hunt down a box, probably not, but am I happy to have tried this cigar - most certainly 👍 Have a great Easter!
Very good Cigar
started with a bitter taste then after a few puffs it’s gone good aroma and good amount of smoke the draw was a little bit tight however it’s okay with a flavour of lemon and flowery
