466. Punch Churchill Vintage 2006

2020-04-08/ ANDREDIAS95

From my own collection.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens Fine Tobacco’s cigar lounge.

Information:
Wrapper: Cuba
Binder: Cuba
Filler: Cuba
Discontinued in 2010.

Size: 7×47, Churchill (Julieta No.2).

Wrapper: Milk chocolate, dryish to the touch but with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Cedarwood.

1st third: Starts with a creamy milk tea and buttery biscuit note, with soft notes of cedarwood in the background.

2nd third: Keeps the same.

Burn: Burns sharp with a firm and stable white ash.

Smoke: Medium light smoke with a cool feeling on the tongue and a medium draw.

3rd third: No changes in flavour, just very creamy and smooth until the very end.

Duration: 19:10-20:30, 1h 20min.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a mild strength profile.

Result: In my book this is an 91 point cigar.

The last Punch that I smoked was this and it again confirmed to me that Punch is the unsung hero brand of the cigar world. I have never had a Punch that I haven't enjoyed and while this didn't have the best and most even burn, it was scrumptious and fulfilling. I once had dinner with The Proprietor, and he sipped away at a bottle of wine that perhaps wasn't the greatest he had ever had, but he was vocal, and expressive in how it hit the spot, and this is the cigar version of that experience.
