Another day and another cigar - a first time smoke of the #montecristo Especially No.2 - a very civilised 38 ring gauge that’s a little more medium in strength vs. My normal #porlarranaga Monte Carlo. The draw of this cigar reminds me of trying to drink a thick shake through a normal straw… so it ended up being quite hard work to smoke - though it did improve from the half way mark. I found the taste quite woody with a little spice in the mouth which was pleasant. Next time I will leave the cigar out to dry out a little should it be as tightly packed as this one. Overall I did enjoy it though I do rate the MC a little higher. #cigaraficionado #cigar #cigarlife

460. Montecristo Especiales No. 2 Vintage 2009

2020-03-31/ ANDREDIAS95

Gifted by a friend.

Location: This review was made indoors in Mellgrens Fine Tobacco’s cigar lounge.

Information:
Wrapper: Cuba
Binder: Cuba
Filler: Cuba

Size: 6×38, Panetela (Laguito No. 2).

Wrapper: Redish milk chocolate, oily and smooth with tiny veins.

Construction: Firm even feel when lightly squeezed.

Cold draw: Oakwood.

1st third: Starts with a slight bitter almond note followed by humus and oakwood.

2nd third: Keeps it’s consistent flavours.

Burn: Burns fairly sharp with a firm and stable whiteish ash.

Smoke: Medium voluminous smoke with a cool feeling on the tongue and a light draw.

3rd third: Keeps it’s previous notes with a added toasted bread note.

Duration: 20:40-21:40, 1h.

Conclusion: A medium bodied cigar with a medium strength profile.

Result: In my book this is an 90 point cigar.

An elegant smoke. I feel classy just holding it. In my opinion, this blend is richer and stronger than standard numbered Montectisto vitolas. Snug draw, but with great burn and excellent construction. This specimen comes from a 2021 box. There is great aging potential.

I recently picked up a box and such a wonderful format. Flavors are awesome, exactly what I hoped for so I bought a second box since they’re not often available.

Excellent buy! Slowly savor one box, and age the second!
