The Juan López Dragones Edición Regional BELUX 2021 carries a unique place in the world of Cuban cigars, both for its name and its history. Released as part of Habanos S.A.'s Edición Regional program, it was commissioned for the Belgium-Luxembourg (BELUX) region. This program allows distributors to create exclusive releases from lesser-known Cuban brands, giving these cigars a special appeal to collectors and aficionados. The Juan López brand itself, founded in the late 19th century, has always been a boutique name in the Cuban cigar market, often overshadowed by larger brands but valued for its craftsmanship and rich flavor.
The cigar's name, Dragones, draws from the history of Brussels, Belgium. It is a tribute to the "Maison des Dragons," a famous building in Brussels adorned with dragon sculptures. The symbolism connects the cigar with both historical artistry and the powerful imagery of dragons, evoking strength, mystery, and elegance. This limited release is not the first time Juan López has been featured in the Edición Regional series, but its combination of a Mágicos vitola (also seen in lines like Cohiba) and its exclusivity made it especially sought-after.
Production was limited to 10,000 boxes of 10 cigars, making it a rare find. Released in mid-2023, the cigar has become a collector's item, appreciated for its smooth, medium-to-full body flavor, combining earth, cedar, and spice. Its moderate size (115mm length, 52 ring gauge) makes it a perfect smoke for those seeking a robust yet balanced experience
