My Biography
My life has never unfolded like a single, continuous book. It has been a collection of short stories ... each with its own setting, challenges, and lessons. The most recent chapter has been a nineteen-year journey as a business owner, one that reshaped how I think about risk, responsibility, and success.
What was the first cigar you ever smoked?
First Cuban Cigar was a Quai D'Orsay No. 50
Which is your desert-island cigar?
Partagas Lusitania
What is the worst cigar you’ve ever smoked?
King Edward mass produced in the 70s
What is your greatest cigar-related memory?
One of my favorite cigar memories was lounging beside my wife, our feet dangling in the pool at our rented villa in Curaçao. The late afternoon air was warm and still. In one hand, a glass of Santa Teresa rum; in the other, my first Partagás Lusitania. I enjoyed the rum and cigar while we watched the sun sink into the ocean, the sky fading through layers of gold and deep blue. Time seemed to pause, and the world became a perfect convergence of place, company, and ritual.
What is your favourite cigar brand?
Partagas
What is your favourite cigar accessory?
My ashtray collection ... works of art all.
What is your favourite cigar shop?
Blend Bar - The Woodlands, Texas
What is your favourite lounge?
Churchill Cigar Club, Worth Avenue, Palm Beach, Florida.
What is your favourite method of ignition?
At home, I typically use a S.T. Dupont Diamondhead lighter. I tend to go through the butane fairly quickly, so when it runs out, as it often does, I’ll switch to using cedar strips.
When I’m on the golf course, I prefer a Lubinski emerald-green torch lighter, which holds up better in the wind.
What is your favourite cut?
Depends on the cigar, but typically straight cut.
