My Biography

Occasional cigar enjoyer from Los Angeles, California.

Historian, horticulturalist, sartorialist, theologian, philanthropist, businessman, traditionalist, philosopher, coach, and artist.

What was the first cigar you ever smoked?

I do not know if it was my first, but in the beginning of high school, I found my dad’s old humidor, and in it was an old Montecristo No. 2; needless to say finding a Cuban cigar for an American teenager was like finding buried treasure.

Which is your desert-island cigar?

Probably the Partagas Lusitanias

What is the worst cigar you’ve ever smoked?

I don’t remember, though I was not a fan of the “Bolivar Belicosos Finos”.

What is your greatest cigar-related memory?

Junior year in high school. My dad bought me some cigars to bring to school to smoke with my friends after. I selected this extremely strong and dark Honduran cigar. Being new to cigars, I smoked through it in a matter of minutes. Now, this cigar was probably a 10 on the strength scale to begin with, and being paired with my lack of full stomach and experience, it was a formula for disaster. I was dizzy and light headed and had my head out of my friends car window as we drove around. We attended a school event that night and I remember still being completely buzzed hours later. Certainly a memorable afternoon/evening.

What is your favourite cigar brand?

Probably Montecristo, though Cohiba, Partagas, and Davidoff are dangerously close.

What is your favourite cigar accessory?

A toss up between my S.T. DuPont lighter and Elie Bleu humidor.

What is your favourite cigar shop?

Cigars by Chivas. My home cigar lounge in Pasadena, California.

What is your favourite lounge?

Cigars by Chivas in Pasadena, California

What is your favourite method of ignition?

My S.T. DuPont lighter all day.

What is your favourite cut?

Straight cut (mainly because it’s the easiest and I don’t really know the others).
