The Bolívar Regentes was unveiled in an exclusive launch event hosted by Hunters & Frankau at the prestigious Boisdale of Canary Wharf in London. The last of the three delayed 2021 Limited Edition cigars, the Bolivar Regentes cigar pays homage to Simón Bolívar, the revolutionary hero who played a pivotal role in liberating much of South America from Spanish rule in the early 19th century. Much like its namesake, the Bolívar Regentes is celebrated for its bold and commanding character, delivering a robust and full-bodied smoking experience that stands out within the Habanos S.A. portfolio.
Meticulously crafted ‘Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga’—entirely by hand with long filler—the Bolívar Regentes is composed of leaves sourced from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region in Pinar del Río, Cuba’s most esteemed tobacco-growing area. These leaves undergo a rigorous aging process of at least two years, ensuring a blend that is as rich in depth and complexity as the historical legacy it represents.
A hallmark of the Edición Limitada series is the use of specially aged wrapper leaves selected from the upper part of the tobacco plant. These leaves are aged for an extended period, developing a darker hue and a richer flavor profile compared to the standard wrappers found on regular production Habanos. The scarcity of these special leaves imparts a distinct touch of sweetness and an added layer of complexity, making these cigars highly coveted by collectors and connoisseurs alike.
In addition to the unique wrappers, the binder and filler tobaccos used in the Edición Limitada releases receive a minimum of two extra years of aging compared to standard production cigars. This additional aging results in a fuller-bodied and more nuanced smoke, contributing to the exceptional allure of these limited releases.
Measuring 5 1/8 inches (130mm) by 52 ring gauge, the Bolívar Regentes comes elegantly presented in distinctive slide-lid boxes containing 25 cigars. This marks the fourth time the Bolívar brand has been honored with an Edición Limitada production, following the notable 2018 release of the Bolívar Soberano.
