Originally from Merseyside, and now the Cigar Sommelier at The Birley Clubs, the infinitely popular Syafiera Rosidi gives us an insight into her cigar passion.
1. What kickstarted your passion for cigars?
My love for food and drink fuelled my passion for cigars. The same excitement from eating from a tasting menu or discovering a new cocktail for the first time still rings true for cigars.
2. What is your favourite cigar?
Difficult question and ever changing. I have go-tos, but if I had to place a recent memory of my “favourite” cigar it would be the 2014 Por Larranaga Sobresalientes. A powerful, buttery, and rich cigar with a touch of warming spice that still holds fond memories to this day.
3. Do you have a favourite lounge or terrace to smoke in?
I love frequenting No. Ten Manchester Street. A semi-secret terrace for those that know.
4. What is your most memorable cigar moment?
My most memorable cigar moment is smoking a Montecristo 80th Aniversario with friends in the twilight of lockdown. Time stopped, a moment shared in the sun that felt like it lasted forever.
5. What cigar do you think is underrated?
There are many, but currently it would be the Romeo y Julieta Cazadores. A slender ring gauge with some hidden power – rich, full bodied and not a typical Romeo y Julieta profile.
