Aaron Sigmond: The Most Important Non-Cuban Cigars 2022

The following are the most important non-Cuban cigars released in 2022 as decided by Aaron Sigmond. They come from the farthest reaches of the Caribbean Basin—Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, even Miami, Florida, USA.

Unquestionably the single most talked about non-Cuban cigars this year are the Fuente y Padrón Legends Churchills (7 x 50 rg), an unprecedented collaboration between the two most iconic family-owned cigar makers in the world: Dominican-made, Tampa-based Arturo Fuente and Nicaragua-made Miami-based Padron.

These limited edition-cigars come housed in a 40 count box: 20 Fuente cigars to honour Don Jose O. Padron; 20 Padron cigars to honour Don Carlos Fuente Sr. They spectacularly debuted at the PCA Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nevada in July to grand fanfare. However, as no release date has been set they technically it can’t be included on this year’s list, however these are decidedly the stand out cigars of the year, irrespective of country of origin.
