Not just the most famous name in the Habanos stable but one of the most recognisable brands in the world, Cohiba Cigars. Established in 1966, but the real genesis was in 1963, when Castro’s driver Chicho lit a cigar rolled for him by a friend while El Commandante sat in the back. The aroma caught the attention of Fidel, who was given one, and the roller, Eduardo Rivera was summoned to the torcedor’s bench to be henceforth entrusted with rolling the leader’s cigars, and the brand, named after Taino Indian word for bunched leaves of tobacco, was born.
